The Short Guide to Meditation: Mental Spaces

Many people are afraid of the word "Meditation". For many, it is directly associated with the esoteric and with something paranormal. However, meditation is a way to oneself, it is one of the ways to talk with our subconscious mind. Meditation helps to find the most vulnerable parts of our soul and eliminate them by means of "spiritual talk".
To be honest, I have never read anything about meditation but "Mental Spaces" is my own invention to find the key to many hidden doors in my soul, while body or mind doesn't want to listen to my orders.

Imagine that you can travel through time and spaces, being just static. Everyone has the palaces of the mind or, basically, mental space that can be absolutely dynamic, it’s our own time machine.

All you need is just to close your eyes

The idea came to me so spontaneously. I was just so angry with someone and I tried to get rid of the excess of my emotions to give some space for tranquility. However, it can be said that cases can vary. A trigger should be some kind of emotion that worries you and about which you want to talk with your consciousness… It does not have to be negative, you can even visualize the emotion of happiness in the mental space (if you want), but, more often, we do not need it. My most frequent problems arise when I feel anxiety, anger, resentment, and hopelessness. When I feel that my feelings and emotions are knee-full to the limit, I just close my eyes and visualize…

The technique: “Room for emotions”

Close your eyes and imagine the snow-white small but cute room, where you have a white sofa, white carpet, white pillows, white fluffy cat and, besides, jars with colorful paints… Take and spread the colors everywhere, ripped a pillow and scattered feathers across the room.

Be ruthless, tear and throw until you feel better. Start feeling like blood, rushing in your hands, as if it is accelerated, but you breathe freely. If it didn’t help you, pour a bucket with the paint that reflects your rage.

The technique: “Unlimited Spaces or Jungles of Imagination”

This technique works perfectly when you feel stressed or anxious and you can’t fall asleep because it feels like tiny little problems, like worms, eat you inside but instead of counting rams I would suggest doing something else.

Close your eyes, breathing deep and slowly, feeling how the air fills your chest and goes down and up. Inhale and exhale. Imagine a huge white fuzzy cloud, you are slowly falling down into, the warm glow of the sun hugging your body… It’s so so quiet and calm around. Nothing disturbs you. Your head is free from thoughts and worries. You are slowly falling into a deep sleep.

The technique: “Time Machine”

This technique works for physical pain distraction or when you are literally about to give up and start sobbing bitterly.

Usually, when I feel these moments coming I prefer mental traveling to my favourite places where I felt good. For example, Palma de Mallorca with hot sand, sun, and rocks. A strange feeling comes over me as if it really was only yesterday, but in reality, it was just a mental camera that captured those wonderful moments when I felt very happy and where I was happy to be back at that moment felt physical pain.

It’s your turn. Close your eyes, try to remember your best trip ever in details. What did you like the most? How did you feel? Maybe it was a particular scenery, a day? Was it raining or was it sunny? Was it windy or hot? Tell me about it so accurately, so I’d travel there with you even if I have never been there before. You won’t notice how the process shaded your pain.

The technique: “Forgotten Passenger”

Of course, each of us has an imaginary carriage with people from the past or near present, which we would just like to delete from our lives or forget forever as if these people never had been. And here it is very important to be able to let people go psychologically. Most often, I imagine this or that person as a hostage of my own consciousness. It feels as if you just need to get it out of your head. This is when the technique of “Forgotten Passenger” can perfectly work.

Close your eyes. Create an image of a certain person who cannot get out of your head, and you mentally push a person out of the doors of your heart, soul and consciousness… Just ask her\him to leave, saying: “I let you go like a tree leaves. I forgive you forever if you leave. Please leave me alone!” or just imagine a train that goes far, far away, and the person remains on a distant platform…
